Eye Treatment

The Welfare Committee has reviewed its eye treatment scheme for seafarers with effect from 1st July 2023.

This scheme is meant for both the active and registered retired seafarers. Under this scheme the beneficiary will be refunded 80% of cost incurred for the purchase of frames, lenses and consultation fees up to a maximum amount of Rs 12,000 every two-calendar year.

Also note that as from 1st July 2023, the same is applied to the seafarers’ spouse for their eye treatments.

Eligibility and criteria

  1. The beneficiary should be registered as an active or registered retired seafarer with the Seafarers’ Welfare Fund.
  2. The beneficiary should not be covered under any similar scheme with his employer or elsewhere.
  3. For active seafarers not actively engaged in employment.
